Not all bartenders, however, are willing to make them. The two chefs and their circle of friends refer to themselves as the Shy Boyz Club aside from collaborating on pop-up events together, they gather regularly to eat Chinese food and pound Long Islands across New York City. “When you go to a nice restaurant or bar and you ask for a Long Island Iced Tea, it’s essentially like going to a three-Michelin star omakase restaurant and ordering a California roll,” says Sze. But they’re not naive to the drink’s lowbrow reputation.

  • To make a 2-quart pitcher, adjust the ingredients to: 6-ounces for each alcohol, 12-ounces of sweet and sour mix, and 16-ounces of cola (more to top off if needed).

But when you mix together several alcohols and add in some cola, it looks a lot like iced tea. The cocktail favorite, Long Island Iced Tea, does not actually contain any iced tea.
